What Happens Once I’ve Filed My Claim?

The insurance company will first need to confirm that your policy is in effect and that the accident is covered. After that has been completed your accident will be assigned to a claims adjuster. They usually contact you within 24 hours. The claims adjuster will be the person that walks you through the process of repairs and is your point of contact. They will look at your car or damage to your home, evaluate the damages and figure out how much money can be claimed under your policy. They will then explain to you as to how to proceed to repair the damage.

You have the option to use any mechanic or body shop or repair company you choose. However, the claims adjuster will have a list of recommendations should you not have a preference.
