Trying To Make Some Extra Cash? Make Sure You’re Covered
Many of you know the story- work is a little slow, you need a little extra cash for the holidays and so you decided to come on down to Domino’s and pick up an extra job as a delivery driver. That’s awesome. But you have to be careful, because in your attempt to make a little extra cash on the weekends, you could be putting yourself at risk and costing yourself a lot more money than you could ever make delivering pizzas on the weekend.
Are You Covered Under Your Car Insurance For Delivery?
And what I mean by that is most personal auto insurance policies do not cover you while you’re delivering food. So pizza delivery, Grub Hub, Postmates, any of these services are not covered. If you have not told your insurance company that you are delivering food in your personal vehicle, you need to tell them because you are probably not covered. Like I said, most companies won’t cover you at all.
What Can You Do?
Some companies will allow you to add an endorsement to your personal auto policy to give you coverage. So you need to call your agent and make sure you’re covered. Because if you’re driving for one of those companies delivering food and something happens, your personal policy isn’t going to pay for it. Guess who’s going to pay for it? You are, and all that extra hard earned cash that you’ve earned delivering pizzas is going to go to pay for all those people’s medical injuries because your insurance company is not going to pay it. Call your insurance company. Make sure you’re covered.
