I’m here in beautiful San Diego and the question today’s video is “when I want to leave Gilbert, Arizona in the middle of the summer when it’s 120 degrees and come to beautiful San Diego and get out of the heat, does my car insurance cover me while I travel to different states?”
I get that question often. People ask me, “Hey, I’m going on a road trip. I’m crossing the whole United States. Am I going to be covered if something happens to me in a different state?”
Auto insurance policies are going to cover you not only in the state in which you live, but in every state. Also, in a lot of cases, they’re going to cover you in Canada. You need to check with your specific policy, ask your insurance agent in Gilbert, but that is the case on most policies.
Now, there is one thing that needs to be addressed. If you’re permanently moving to another state, in that case, you need to cancel your Arizona insurance policy and you need to get a new car insurance policy in whatever state you’re moving to. Wherever you’re permanently residing and garaging the vehicles and where you have the registration and where your license is, that’s where you need to have your insurance. But if you’re simply traveling to beautiful California to get out of the horrible weather, you’re going to be fine. Your policy, like I said in most cases, is going to cover you anywhere across the United States.
