Rattlesnake Season Is Here!
The temperatures have really heated up fast in Arizona this past week! The 100 degree weather is here, whether you like it or not! Many people have been enjoying the outdoors. It’s been their way of coping with the Arizona Stay-at-Home order issued by Governor Ducey. While it’s great to get out and enjoy the outdoors, you need to be alert and aware of one big problem- RATTLESNAKES!
Late Spring/ Early Summer temperatures is the perfect time for rattlesnakes to come out, and they are just waiting for your tasty ankles on all the desert hiking trails!
Here are a few tips to avoid being bitten (and what to do if you are):
• Watch where you are walking! It’s easy to get lost enjoying the beauty of the outdoor scenery, but don’t stop watching where you’re going. Watch where you step!
• If you’re out hiking at night use a flashlight.
• For reasons, other than just avoiding rattlesnakes, stay on marked trails. Your chances of seeing a rattlesnake are greatly decreased if you stay on the marked trails!
It’s not always fatal!
It’s important to remember that most bites aren’t fatal. There is no need to panic or to try to fix it yourself. You have time to get to a hospital or call 911 and allow them to take care of you.
Don’t Let This Scare You!
The mornings and evening are still a great time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Don’t let the rattlesnakes stop you from doing that. Just follow these tips and you’ll be fine!
